Introduction

OddBytes allows for Accounts, Campaigns and Creatives to have Operating System (OS) targeting. This can be used for more granular targeting and/or optimization strategies.

OS targeting can be set at three levels: Account, → Campaign, → Creative. When making changes, you can select whether to set OS targeting at the same or different levels by selecting Append or Override.

If you are utilizing the Spotlight ad unit, you can also target Desktop and/or Mobile device types. Device targeting can be set at the Campaign and/or Creative levels.

Adding New Device and/or OS Targeting

Two methods can be used to apply Operating System Targeting. This method can also add additional Operating Systems to the existing targeting.

Option 1 - Bulk Edit:

  1. Click on 'Campaigns' on the left side navigation bar.

  2. Click on 'Manage Campaigns or 'Manage Creatives' depending on the level the targeting will be applied.

  3. Select the Campaign(s) or Creative(s) where targeting will be applied.

  4. Click the 'Edit' dropdown.

  5. Click 'Change Targeting'.

  6. Click 'Device/OS'.

  7. Select the Operating System(s) to be applied.

  8. Click 'Include' or 'Exclude'.

    1. Include: This will target only the users using the Operating System(s).

    2. Exclude: This will exclude the users using the Operating System(s).

  9. Click 'Append' or 'Override' depending on what you prefer to do with the new targeting.

    1. Override: This will adjust the Operating System targeting so that the change being made will replace any targeting already applied at the current or higher level.

    2. Append: This will adjust Operating System targeting so that the change will be added to any targeting already applied at the current or a higher level.

    3. Note: If Operating System targeting is not applied to any level, you must still select 'Append' or 'Override' to finalize the edit.

  10. Once targeting is applied, a preview of the Operating System targeting will appear in the 'Active Rules—Operating Systems Targeting' window.

  11. Click 'Close' to close the window.

Option 2 - Singular Edit:

  1. Click on 'Campaigns' on the left side navigation bar.

  2. Click on 'Manage Campaigns or 'Manage Creatives' depending on the level the targeting will be applied.

  3. Find the specific row for the Campaign or Creative in which targeting will be applied.

  4. Click on the "computer" icon under the 'Targeting' column on the row.

  5. Select the Operating System(s) to be targeted.

  6. Click 'Include' or 'Exclude'.

    1. Include: This will target to only the users using the Operating System(s).

    2. Exclude: This will exclude the users using the Operating System(s).

  7. Click 'Append' or 'Override', depending on what you prefer to do with the new targeting.

    1. Override: This will adjust Operating System targeting so that the change being made will replace any targeting already applied at the current or a higher level.

    2. Append: This will adjust Operating System targeting so that the change will be added to any targeting already applied at the current or a higher level.

    3. Note: If Operating System targeting is not applied to any level, you must still select 'Append' or 'Override' to finalize the edit.

  8. Once targeting is applied, a preview of the Operating System targeting will appear in the 'Active Rules—Operating Systems Targeting' window.

  9. Click 'Close' to close the window.
