Introduction

Using the OddBytes Platform's Keyword Suggestion Tool is a great way to find new targeting suggestions for your Campaign(s)! With the tool, you can find suggestions which are similar to your offer or product, as well as the top Keywords and Domains to receive traffic on on our network. It also provides useful insights on the activity of what is being targeted and the recommended bid in order to be competitive.

Accessing the Keyword Suggestion Tool

The Keyword Suggestion Tool can be accessed in multiple ways:

When Creating a New Campaign:

  1. Click on 'New Campaign' on the 'Manage Campaigns' tab.

  2. Enter all required details for the Campaign and Creative.

  3. Under 'Keywords', click on 'Find Keywords'.

When Creating a New Creative:

  1. Click in 'New Creative' on the 'Manage Creatives' tab.

  2. Enter all required details for the Campaign and Creative.

  3. Under 'Keywords', click on 'Find Keywords'.

From the 'Manage Creatives' tab:

  1. Navigate to the 'Manage Creatives' tab.

  2. Check the box to the left of the Creative(s) you wish to edit keywords on.

    1. If selecting more than one Creative, each Creative must be the same ad type.

  3. Click the 'Edit' dropdown menu.

  4. Click 'Add Keywords/Edit Bids'.

  5. Click 'Find Keywords'.

From the 'Manage Keywords' tab:

  1. Navigate to the 'Manage Keywords' grid

  2. Click on 'New Keywords'

  3. Select a Creative from the dropdown to where the Keywords will be added to

  4. Click 'Find Keywords'

Finding New Targeting Suggestions

Similar

'Similar' results will provide Keyword suggestions which are similar to the word(s), phrase(s) and/or domain(s) entered into the search bar.

  1. Select 'Similar' from the drop down next to 'Suggested Keywords'

  2. Enter up to ten words, phrases or domains to act as the base of the search.

    1. Each entry must be separated by a comma or by pressing the "TAB" key.

  3. Click 'Search'

  4. Choose which Keywords to add:

    1. To add all Keywords: Click 'Add All'

    2. To add select Keywords:

      1. Select the Keyword(s) by checking the box to the left of the Keyword and click 'Add Selected' OR

      2. Click the + icon to the right of the Opening Bid

  5. Click 'Submit'

Top 1000 Keywords

'Top 1000 Keywords' will provide the top Keywords (word, phrase and domain) which receive traffic on the OddBytes network. The list is ranked based on the number of impressions, with the highest amount at the top of the list.

  1. Select 'Top 1000 Keywords' from the drop down next to 'Suggested Keywords'

  2. Choose which Keywords to add:

    1. To add all Keywords: Click 'Add All'

    2. To add select Keywords:

      1. Select the Keyword(s) by checking the box to the left of the Keyword and click 'Add Selected' OR

      2. Click the + icon to the right of the Opening Bid

  3. Click 'Submit'

Top 1000 Domains

'Top 1000 Domains' will provide the top referring domains which receive traffic on the OddBytes network. The list is ranked based on ad opportunities, with the highest amount at the top of the list.

  1. Select 'Top 1000 Domains' from the drop down next to 'Suggested Keywords'

  2. Choose which Keywords to add:

    1. To add all Keywords: Click 'Add All'

    2. To add select Keywords:

      1. Select the Keyword(s) by checking the box to the left of the Keyword and click 'Add Selected' OR

      2. Click the + icon to the right of the Opening Bid

  3. Click 'Submit'

Keyword Inventory

'Keyword Inventory' provides Keywords for the Display, Lightbox and Push ad types, along with the Opening Bid, that have recently experienced a significant increase in available inventory. Data will differ based on the ad unit you are adding keywords to.

  1. Select 'Keyword Inventory' from the drop down next to 'Suggested Keywords'

  2. Choose which Keywords to add:

    1. To add all Keywords: Click 'Add All'

    2. To add select Keywords:

      1. Select the Keyword(s) by checking the box to the left of the Keyword and click 'Add Selected' OR

      2. Click the + icon to the right of the Opening Bid

  3. Click 'Submit'

Topics

'Topics' are an additional targeting method to use for your Campaigns, allowing you to target sub-groups of traffic rather than individual Keywords or URLs. You can add Topics to their own specific Creative, or in addition to other Keywords/URLs within the same Creative.

  1. Select 'Topics' from the drop down next to 'Suggested Keywords'

  2. Choose which Topics to add:

    1. Select from pre-populated list:

      1. Select the Topic(s) to be added and click 'Add Selected'.

      2. Add all Topics by clicking 'Add All'.

    2. Search for Topics:

      1. Enter one or multiple words and phrases in the search field to find relevant Topic(s).

      2. Select the Topic(s) to be added.

      3. Click 'Add Selected' OR add all Topics by clicking 'Add All'.

    3. Search for Topics within a Topic vertical:

      1. Click in the field 'Top level filter (optional)'.

      2. Select one or more categories.

      3. Click 'Search'.

      4. Select one or multiple Topics.

      5. Click 'Add Selected' OR add all Topics by clicking 'Add All'.

  3. Click 'Submit'

Additional Information

Columns

  • Activity: Indicates how actively this Keyword or Topic is targeted

  • Opening Bid: The lowest bid price suggested to use to receive any traffic on the Keyword or Topic

Keyword Removal

If a Keyword or Topic has accidentally been added to the 'Selected Keywords' list, it can be removed by:

  1. Bulk Removal: Selecting the line(s) of Keyword(s) or Topic(s) and clicking 'Remove Selected'

  2. Full Removal: Clicking 'Removal All'

  3. Individual Removal: Clicking the X icon to the left of the Keyword or Topic

Notes

  • As new Keywords or Topics are added to the network, they become available within the Keyword Suggestion Tool. A best practice is to check the tool often to find new suggestions which may not have been provided at an earlier date.

  • The list of suggestions can be exported prior to being selected by clicking the 'Export' button.
