Introduction

No real-time tracking? No problem!

If you aren’t tracking conversions in real-time currently, the Bulk Import Conversions Tool is just for you! By utilizing a macro appended to your tracking link(s), you will be able to log conversions in a 3rd party tracking system and import them into OddBytes Platform.

With all your data in the same place, you will have a better overview of campaign performances. These insights will make it easier to optimize your campaigns. To make things even more efficient for you, this tool also allows you to leverage our state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms like the CPA Optimizer.

This article will walk you through the process to upload ClickIDs via an email template. By doing so, you can more efficiently upload conversions, even over holidays and weekends!

If you prefer to upload ClickIDs manually via the platform, please click here for instructions.

NOTE: All email uploads will be automatically imported. We highly suggest testing the Template using the instructions below to ensure everything is mapping correctly before importing. Conversions can be imported up to 1 year from the impression date.

Creating a Template

  1. Click on 'Settings' on the left side navbar.

  2. Click on 'Tracking Manager'.

  3. Click the 'Templates' drop down in the top right corner.

  4. Click 'Create New Template'.

  5. Choose the preferred mapping option - 'File Mapping' or 'Manual Mapping'.

    1. File Mapping: This option allows you to upload an example file to then select the columns which to map to.

    2. Manual Mapping: This option allows you to pre-define the columns which to map to, without uploading any file.

  6. File Mapping instructions:

    1. Enter the name of the template in 'Template Name'.

    2. Enter the email address(es) which will send in the ClickID file to the system.

    3. Click 'Browse' to select the file which to upload.

    4. Select the file which to upload (acceptable formats are .csv, .xlsx and .odt)

      1. For .xlsx and .odt files, name the sheet 'Conversions' so the system knows which sheet to upload from.

    5. Click 'Upload'.

      1. Once the file has been uploaded, a new window will appear to designate mapping instructions.

    6. If only unique ClickIDs are to be imported, click the box next to 'Import Unique ClickIDs only.

    7. If ClickIDs which have already been imported are to be imported again, click the box next to 'Import Already Imported ClickIDs'.

    8. Map 'Detected Columns' and 'Mapped To' to ensure the correct column being imported is matched to the appropriate data point.

      1. The column containing the ClickID will likely automatically map to 'ClickID'.

    9. Click 'Save Template'.

  7. Manual Mapping instructions:

    1. Enter the name of the template in 'Template Name'.

    2. Enter the email address(es) which will send in the ClickID file to the system.

    3. If your file will contain headers, please check the box next to 'File Has Column Headers;.

    4. If only unique ClickIDs are to be imported, click the box next to 'Import Unique ClickIDs only.

    5. If ClickIDs which have already been imported are to be imported again, click the box next to 'Import Already Imported ClickIDs'.

    6. Map 'Conversion Values' and 'Column Headers' to ensure the correct column being imported is matched to the appropriate data point.

      1. The ClickID conversion value must be mapped to the corresponding column header. All other columns are not required, but must be mapped correctly if being used as part of the import.

    7. Click 'Save Template'.

Testing the Template

  1. Click the Templates drop down to select the template that you would like to test.

  2. Using the email address and temporary subject line provided in the blue box, send a test email with a ClickID file.

  3. After the email is sent, click 'Check' in the bottom left corner of the window to confirm mapping is correct.

  4. If the ClickIDs are not mapped correctly, click 'Delete' to create a new template with the correct mapping instructions.

Using the Template

  1. In the Tracking Manger, locate the pixel you will be uploading conversions to.

  2. Click the link under the Email Subject column for that pixel.

  3. This will automatically open up a new email with the Recipient (To) and Subject lines filled in.

    1. Make sure the Sender (From) email matches the one used in the template.

      1. Please note: forwarding emails will not be accepted. The email should come directly from the Sender email listed in the template.

  4. You can also manually compose a new email or send from your 3rd party reporting.

    1. Be sure to send to: [email protected]

      1. Please note: this email address needs to be in the "To" field, adding to cc field will not be accepted.

    2. Subject line: Copy the Email Subject that corresponds to the pixel you're uploading to.

  5. Attach your report (acceptable formats are csv, .xlsx and .odt)

    1. For .xlsx and .odt files, name the sheet 'Conversions' so the system knows which sheet to upload from.

  6. After the email is sent, you can check for it in the platform.

    1. If there are any issues with your import, you will receive an email from OddBytes Tracking that it was unsuccessful. Check the Error line for reasoning.

  7. To see your file in the Conversion Upload List:

    1. Click 'Import' in the top right corner.

    2. Or click 'Settings' then 'Bulk Import Conversions'.

  8. Check the Status column. If successfully uploaded, you will see a blue checkmark.

Notes:

  1. The conversion data will be available within the platform after about 10-15 minutes.

  2. Once conversions are imported into the platform, we are not able to remove the conversions.
