Introduction

No real-time tracking? No problem!

If you aren’t tracking conversions in real-time currently, the Bulk Import Conversions Tool is just for you! By utilizing a macro appended to your tracking link(s), you will be able to log conversions in a 3rd party tracking system and import them into OddBytes Platform.

With all your data in the same place, you will have a better overview of campaign performances. These insights will make it easier to optimize your campaigns. To make things even more efficient for you, this tool also allows you to leverage our state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms like the CPA Optimizer.

NOTE: Conversions can be imported up to 1 year from the impression date.

Where can I find the Conversion Import Tool?

  1. Click on 'Settings' on the left side navbar.

  2. Click 'Bulk Import Conversions'.

  3. After clicking on 'Bulk Conversions Import', the 'Conversion Upload List' window will appear to begin the import process. This window will also store all files which have been imported, along with their statuses and the ability to download the file(s).

To import conversions, please be sure to follow all of the below steps below - Upload, Review and Import. You have two option during the upload step - uploading a file or pasting in a list - depending on the most efficient way for you.

Upload Conversions - Excel File

  1. From the 'Conversion Upload List', click 'Upload' to open the 'Bulk Import Conversions Tool' window.

  2. From the 'Select Account', drop-down, choose which account to upload ClickIDs to.

  3. From the 'Select Pixel' drop-down, choose which pixel to upload ClickIDs to.

  4. Click 'Browse' to select which file to upload.

    1. If the CSV file does not have any headers, click the box next to 'Column Names Not Present In File'.

    2. If using a .xlsx or .ods file type, the sheet must have a column header titled 'Conversions'.

  5. Once the file is selected, click 'Upload'. After the file is uploaded, the 'Bulk Conversions Import Tool will reappear.

  6. If you would like to receive an email once the import is complete, check the box next to 'Notify me on {email address}'.

    1. This is not required, but a useful option. The import tool can be closed while the data is being validated, and selecting this option will allow you to be informed when the process is complete to begin the next step.

  7. If you would like to automatically ignore any ClickIDs with errors, check the box next to 'Ignore errors and import ClickIDs'.

    1. This is not required, but a useful option to eliminate the need to check through conversions that may have had errors and are invalid.

  8. Map the column(s) to the correct data point to be imported.

    1. The tool will try to identify the column containing the ClickIDs in the CSV file and automatically map to the ClickID column within the platform.

    2. You can also map the file's columns to other platform columns, including the number of conversions and revenue per ClickID.

      1. If any column other than the ClickID in your file is not required for import, select 'Ignore this column' from the dropdown next to the entry under 'Detected Column'.

  9. After any necessary column mapping is complete, click 'Validate & Match'.

    1. If for any reason the file originally uploaded is incorrect, you can click 'Upload New File' to be redirected back to the 'Conversion Upload List' window.

  10. The matching process will now begin to then be able to review the conversions.

    1. The window can now be closed while the data is matched. If you chose to receive an email, an email will be sent once the process is complete to then review the data.

  11. Once the matching process is complete, click 'Review & Import'.

Notes:

  1. File importing can process a maximum of 20,000 rows each time.

  2. File formats accepted are: .csv, .xlsx and .ods.

Upload Conversions - Paste Values

  4. Paste in a list of ClickIDs.

    1. A maximum of 2K rows can be uploaded.

  5. If you would like to receive an email once the import is complete, check the box next to 'Notify me on {email address}'.

    1. This is not required, but a useful option. The import tool can be closed while the data is being validated, and selecting this option will allow you to be informed when the process is complete to begin the next step.

  6. If you would like to automatically ignore any ClickIDs with errors, check the box next to 'Ignore errors and import ClickIDs'.

    1. This is not required, but a useful option to eliminate the need to check through conversions that may have had errors and are invalid.

  7. Click 'Validate & Match'.

Review Uploaded Conversions

After validating the conversion data, the data must be reviewed once more before it is fully imported into the system. This is the best time for deciding how you would like to handle duplicate conversions. If a user with a given ClickID converts multiple times, you may want to import multiple conversion records.

If you closed the 'Bulk Import Conversions Tool', you can access the Review window by opening the 'Conversion Upload List', clicking on the 'Action' drop-down and selecting 'Review' next to the most recently uploaded file.

The Review window will provide a summary of the ClickIDs:

  • Number of Invalid Conversions

    • The most common error is 'Duplicate token - multiple extension error'. This refers to a user having more than one extension serving the same Creative, which could result in duplicate ClickIDs but only one conversion should be imported.

      • Please note, if duplicate impressions are being served, you are only being charged for one impression.

  • Number of Valid Conversions

  • Number of Duplicate Conversions

  • Number of Already Imported Conversions

From this window, there are a few methods you can use to remove any ClickID(s) prior to import:

  • Removing Individual Records: Each individual record can be removed from the preview by clicking the X icon on the far right of the row you wish to be removed.

  • Removing Multiple Records: Rows can be removed in bulk by checking the box on the far left of each row that you wish to remove. Once all rows to be removed have a checkmark, click the 'Remove' button just above the grid.

  • Removing All Non-Unique Records:

    • To remove any duplicate conversions from the import, hover over the column labeled 'Status' and click to open the column filter. Select 'Duplicate', 'Invalid' and 'Imported' to filter for all three statues. Check the box in the top left of the grid to select all rows. Click the 'Remove' button just above the grid to remove all selected rows from import.

    • Select the option of 'Import Unique ClickIDs Only'.

Notes:

  1. If you hide rows in the Review Grid by using filters, those hidden rows will still be imported when you click the 'Save' button. Please make sure that no records are being hidden from view when doing the import.

  2. When using the filter to find duplicate ClickIDs, the system will only flag conversions that are duplicates of previously imported conversions.

  3. Once conversions are imported into the platform, we are not able to remove the conversions.

Import Conversions

  1. Click 'Import'.

  2. A prompt will appear to confirm the import. Click 'Yes' to move forward with the import.

  3. After the import is complete, a blue bar on the Review window will appear to provide the total number of conversions that will be imported.

  4. You can now close the Review window.

  5. The 'Conversion Upload Tool' window will appear, now containing the file now being imported with the 'Running' icon under the 'Status' column.

  6. Once the import is complete, a platform notification will appear to signal the process is complete and the conversions are available within the platform. The status icon will also change to show as 'Finished'.

Important Callouts

  • CPA Optimizer:

    • If you are using the conversion import tool as a method to get conversions into OBP so that the CPA Optimizer can be leveraged, then it is important to note that the CPA Optimizer is driven by machine learning.

    • The more data it receives consistently, the faster and better it will perform. This means that it will still work with conversions that are imported, but it is important that the conversions be imported regularly. If the CPA Optimizer only receives new conversion data every couple of days, then it will not perform as well as if it received conversion feedback data consistently.

  • When importing, up to 50 conversions can be imported per ClickID in any given import session.
